• In gel trptic digestion developed for the determination of primary amino acid sequence of N-terminally blocked
  proteins which is commonly used for protein identification and proteomics. Disulfide bonds in protein are reduced
  followed by alkylation of the sulfhydryl groups to prevent further reaction. Later the protein is digested using
  trypsin while protein is still in the gel slice. This methodology provides a number of peptides with free amino termini
  and lysine or arginine at the C-terminal. Later these samples are analyzed by MALDI-TOF.
